The computer is basically unusable because the display takes a few minutes to refresh (contents of the screen to change). I bring it to the Apple store and thank god I purchased AppleCare+ because the technician says it will be covered as an accidental damage (which sucks because I'm using 1/2 accidental damage incidents 1 month into owning this machine). Without AppleCare+ the technician told me the repair would cost $1970 CAD (~1k for the display and the rest for replacing the top case because of a touch bar issue).

Oh how I wish I'd have seen this post a month ago when I bought my new spec-ed out MacBook Pro 16" for upwards of $3500 USD and decided to skip AppleCare because I treat my devices well and have never had an issue with Apple products I've owned almost the last 10 years.
Well, I installed a very thin camera cover, and earlier this week the display completely took a poop on me (just 1 crack looking thing near the camera, and black everywhere else, no sign of life besides the backlight and when connected to external displays). Took it into a repair shop after calling support (should have gone to the shop first), and they said this was a problem with camera covers on the new 16". The shop is sending it in to Apple, and I'm looking at a $679 USD replacement cost if Apple deems the damage my fault. I am going to argue like hell that the fact that a little camera cover can break your screen means there is a problem with their engineering.
